⭐ S.T.A.R. Puppy Training
Class Length: Six weeks (45 minutes per session) — $249
For Puppies: Ages 8–21 weeks
The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is designed to help you and your puppy with socialization, training, activity, and responsibility. This class lays the foundation for lifelong learning while creating a strong bond between you and your puppy.
Focus Areas
- Socialization with people, puppies, and new environments
- Understanding behavior and body language
- Basic commands: sit, down, come, and off
- Good manners: biting, barking, chewing, and house training
- Confidence-building activities and playtime
- Responsible ownership practices
Graduates are eligible to move directly into Level 1 Training, even if under 6 months.
🥇 Level 1 — Basics with Focus
With the purchase of a Paws Inn Level 1, you’ll receive the training and support you need to succeed with your dog at a pace that suits you. Each Level is four weeks. At the end of the four weeks, we’ll test the set criteria; once met, you can advance to the next level or continue in Level 1 until ready.
Class Length: Four weeks (45 minutes per session) — $219
For Dogs: 6 months and older (S.T.A.R. Puppy graduates may start earlier)
Criteria to Advance to Level 2:
- Responds to name with small distractions
- Sit for 20 seconds without a lure
- Down for 20 seconds without a lure
- Off — responds to open hand signal and maintains off on the floor for 20 seconds
- Comfortable with handling and touch
- Beginning stay — 20 seconds in sit or down
- Loose leash walking basics
- Finish — moves into sit at your side
🥈 Level 2 — Manners & Impulse Control
Level 2 develops impulse control, distraction management, and real-world manners. Each Level is four weeks. At the end, we’ll test the criteria to determine advancement.
Class Length: Four weeks (45 minutes per session) — $219
For Dogs: Must have completed Level 1 criteria
Criteria to Advance to Level 3:
- Loose leash walking at different paces (slow, normal, brisk)
- Sit & down with stay — 20 seconds, handler 3–5 feet away, with distractions
- Off/Take It — leaves food/object until released, maintains eye contact
- Off (Walk Away) — moves away from food/object on command
- Sit to Stand — smooth transition, holds 3 seconds
- Recall with distractions
- Finish — consistent sit at your side
- Door Manners — waits politely for permission
🥉 Level 3 — Real-Life Reliability & Fun Challenges
Level 3 emphasizes real-life application through games, proofing exercises, and fitness activities. Each Level is four weeks. At the end, we’ll test the criteria to determine advancement.
Class Length: Four weeks (45 minutes per session) — $219
For Dogs: Completed Level 2 with Paws Inn OR demonstrate strong stay with distractions, loose leash walking, and no dog reactivity
Focus Areas:
- Distraction proofing: advanced stays, recalls, leash walking
- Training games: teamwork and focus challenges
- Impulse control: advanced “off” and self-control setups
- Fitness & conditioning: safe activities indoors/outdoors
- Real-life scenarios: practicing commands in daily life situations
